Special Activities

  • Philanthropy Workday; Sew days are always a fun and productive day where guild members volunteer to sew quilt tops that will be finished later and donated to charitable organizations. Please join us for the 2012 sew days - TBA. Philanthropy also collects quilts, quilt tops, place mats, and pillow cases at quilt guild meetings. The donations are given to charitable organizations.

  • Periodically there are additional activities offered by the guild. For instance, the Guild Challenge every other year, the Quilt Auction every other October,  and the Little Red Hen Auction at a selected guild meeting.

Challenge 2012

A challenge is always fun. You never know what our guild members will dream up next, but it is always worth finding out!  The 2012 challenge fabrics are a brown tone stripe and a tan floral. The theme is "History Lesson - An Event in American History". We're looking forward to seeing what the 2012 challenge will bring in May.

All 2012 challenge quilts are due by Apr. 30th and will be displayed at the May 14, 2012 quilt guild meeting. Challenge packets are sold out and were sold at the Sept. and Oct. 2011 general meetings. For Directions on how to attach your 4 inch quilt sleeve to the back of your quilt: click here

Community Education 2012

The goal of Community Education is to promote the art and history of quilting.  This year looks like a busy one!

Our members will be displaying quilts at Heritage Hill Park in Lake Forest to celebrate each of the Park’s major events:

June :  Rancho Fiesta Days
October :  Autumn Harvest Festival
December : Victorian Christmas - Dec. 3
December :  Candlelight Tour Dec. 10-11

Orange County Fair. The FGQG has had an exhibit at the Orange County Fair.   In our booth in the Home Arts Building volunteer demonstrate how quilts are made and sometimes present a trunk show on stage.  It’s always an invigorating day, showing people some of the projects we work on, especially our philanthropy work.
Come see the FGQG at the Fair next year.

We look forward to this active year and displaying our fabulous work.
