Map and Directions
How did the Guild get Started? In the Summer of 1985, a group of about 30 quilters met at Flying Geese Fabric Shop in Irvine for the purpose of forming a local quilt guild. In November, Flying Geese Quilters was incorporated by the state as a nonprofit corporation. In the articles of incorporation, the stated purpose of the guild is "to promote and educate its members and members of the public in the techniques and methods of creative quilting and fiber art." Over the years the Guild has provided members with the opportunity to hear presentations on a variety of topics from local and nationally known quilters and fabric artists. Other activities include biannual quilt show, a biannual quilt auction, a variety of quilt related philanthropic and community education projects, workshops, Friendship Groups, extensive library, and a monthly newsletter.
